About RateMyTrain
RateMyTrain is an independent website where passengers rate the trains they actually travelled on. It answers three simple questions before you book: how late does this train usually arrive, how clean are its coaches, and how clean are its washrooms?
Only real passengers can rate
There is no signup and no login. To rate a train you enter the PNR from your ticket. We check that the booking was confirmed or RAC, that the chart was prepared and that the journey date has arrived. Waitlisted and cancelled tickets cannot rate.
Each PNR can rate once, within 30 days of the journey date.
Your class comes from your ticket
The train, class, stations and date are read from the PNR. You cannot choose them, so someone who travelled in Sleeper cannot rate 1AC, and nobody can rate a train they were not on.
What gets rated
Delay at your destination, in seven bands from "on time or under 1 hour" to "8 hours or more". Delay is shown for the whole train because every class arrives together.
Coach cleanliness and washroom cleanliness, from 1 to 5 stars. These are shown separately for each class, and you can compare any two classes side by side.
A comment is optional. Comments are checked automatically for abusive language, phone numbers, emails and links before they appear.
When we show an average
A class needs at least 5 ratings before we show an average for it. Until then you will see "Not enough ratings yet", because one or two ratings say very little about a train.
Independent
RateMyTrain is not affiliated with IRCTC or Indian Railways and does not sell tickets. Ratings are the opinions of the passengers who wrote them.
